Probabilistic Damage Stability Verification of a Monohull and a Multihull

Abstract

What happens to a ship when its hull is breached — and how likely is it to survive? This thesis verifies probabilistic damage stability for both monohull and multihull vessels, analyzing damage scenarios and their effects on stability. The study pairs manual calculations in Excel with MaxSurf naval-architecture software for comparative results, covering compartment flooding analysis, weight redistribution, and evaluation against international stability criteria. It contributes to maritime safety by offering practical insight into probabilistic damage-stability assessment.

Design of a 1500 TEU Sea-Going Container Vessel

Abstract

A complete design of a 1500 TEU sea-going container vessel — from first principles to finished drawings. The project covers hull form development, stability analysis, structural design, propulsion selection, and cargo handling arrangements, using AutoCAD for technical drawings, Rhino 3D for hull modeling, and MaxSurf for hydrostatic and stability calculations. Special attention went to optimizing cargo capacity, fuel efficiency, and operational performance while meeting international maritime regulations.
